Message from Ted Comiskey
Did you know that Canterbury Folk Festival was only planned to last a few years? Here we are nineteen years into a five year plan. The reason it has continued is because of you, our faithful audience.
Canterbury has become a staple in Ingersoll’s summer list of fun things to do.  It is a moment when the whole family can gather together and enjoy the company of friends, food and of course the song and dance of our many local, national and international performers. This year is no different. Everyone one will find a special connection with all the entertainers coming this year. We are also proud to be the first waste free festival and encourage everyone to take note and do what they can to aim towards zero waste at home and at work. Thank you “Transition to Less Waste” for setting the example.
There are two fuels that power Canterbury Folk Festival. The first is our volunteers. We have a board that works tirelessly to put on the best of festivals.  Every year we call upon hundreds of good folks to volunteer their time to make this festival what it is today. Thank you. We can always use more. Please inquire. The second is our sponsors. Without them we cannot keep this great festival free which allows us to provide top notch entertainers to everyone. Read the list of sponsors and please thank them when you see them.
To all those visiting Ingersoll, welcome to the Hub of the Earth!  Take your time here. See our award winning museum, our parks, our many shops and friendly people. It’s a great place to live. Hint, hint.
Now back to our faithful town audience. Have fun, enjoy and take care.

Ernie Hunt - A friend to Canterbury
Ernie Hunt passed away in January of this year and he will be forever missed at Canterbury Folk Festival.  Ernie’s smiling face and generous heart was familiar to everyone at Canterbury Folk Festival. Ernie was involved with the folk festival from the inception; being a lifelong friend of Ted Comiskey he was there and volunteered in many facets from setting up the festival to tearing it down. Ernie’s wife, Yvonne lived for the show.  She just wanted to be there to enjoy the music and never leave.  After the passing of Yvonne the main stage was named in memory of her and the family took on the role of constructing the main stage each year under the supervision of Ernie. Ernie was long involved in politics in the town and was always there to help and be concerned about every project the town undertook.  Ingersoll was: “The Town He Loved So Well”.
